Q: What's your favorite way to relax or recharge?

A: I find myself fully recharged after attending an outdoor mountain music festival with my family. I love being outside, and I love live music. Either of those individually would recharge me but put them together, and I am in heaven.

Q: What's your history with Future 500?

A: I first learned about F500 when I was consulting for a CAN member in 2013. The executive leadership of the company was interested in mapping stakeholders and the director of sustainability shared a stakeholder map that F500 had created. It was so inclusive and sparked powerful conversations. I signed up to follow F500 since then and joined as a senior fellow in 2019.

Q: What's a song that reminds you of your childhood and why?

I find Future 500’s devotion to collaboration and depolarization refreshing and necessary.
— Mairi-Jane Fox

A: Jackson Browne’s song “The Pretender” pulls on my heart. The lyrics invite the listener to be conscious of how they personally define “success” and offer a compass to me for how I am spending my time.

Q: What draws you to serve as a senior fellow with Future 500?

A: Humans invented economics and business and we get to reinvent them any way we want. Nothing about how they are structured or operate ought to be taken for granted–we can co-create whatever is coming next. With this in mind, I find Future 500’s devotion to collaboration and depolarization refreshing and necessary.

Q:  What's a book that has significantly influenced your perspective on leadership, business, and the world?

A:  I am a bibliophile! One book that I recommend to all my college students is Donut Economics by Kate Raworth. Raworth explains economics and a possible future path for economics with such accessibility and eloquence. Students tell me they feel hopeful and empowered after reading it.
